Heh. Just got about 20 small java fern plantlets and I wanna attach to the large piece of driftwood. I don't want to move it, so in some places it's gonna be hard, and in some places impossible, to get the nylon line all the way around and wrapped around to hold them down.

Any alternatives?

Gaps.......elastic bands......dont know really i just tied some down with black thread this afternoon but outside the tank which was obviously easy............

No gaps to wedge it in... I used that idea for my anubias nana petite!

Looks like I'll be doing the best I can with the nylon line!

i had the same problem , couldn't move wood ,so I used a plant weight (the leadish!!! bands you get with some stem plants) just nipped on to the root. It held it in place until the plant rooted it self.

I had an idea, and I think it will work.

Tie the java fern to a small shard of slate. Press one of the sharp edges of the slate into the wood. hey presto!

Hopefully a piece of slate that small will still be heavy enough to hold the plant down.
