Hi Folks

These are the first algea issues i have seriously come across in my tank! Sorry to mither but i need to ID them before i can research how to get rid. ALTHOUGH i think most of it is down to low CO2 - 20ppm, my pressurised is on the way.

1) Black bristle. The black bristles then stick together in little clumps and these clumps are dotted about in inffected areas, about 1cm apart.

2) Quite a bright green algea, that sticks to the front of my tank. there are two types of this. One is like a velvet green and the other is the same colour but in very long strands like hairs (hair algea?) These both come off very easily.

It isn`t all over the tank, but i have seen it appear in places in the last few weeks! Number 2 is the most annoying since it clouds up the front of the glass.

Thanks
Chris

Regarding the green strands on the front of the tank, I accidently bought a high K bulb, on of those ones that are for both FW and SW, and I got what you are describing? What is the kelvin of the bulb that is nearest to the front of the glass?

The stand type stuff I get all the time, it easily comes off and ive not (touch wood!) seen it growing anywhere else in the tank, so might just be a case of removing it when it appears.

Could you try Zig's spot doesing of concentrated NO3 on it?

Sam
