Two Questions

First question: I've read some good reviews about Seachem Malawi Buffer, but when i looked at the bottle's label, I found it said 'to be used with Cichlid lake salt'. Is this a necessity? Or will everything be fine with the buffer itself?

Second question: Should I use Activated Carbon with the Malawis? I've heard that you don't even need to use it, but since i'm not going to have any plants, i thought it might really help

I don't see why you should, I'd imagine thats just getting you to buy more stuff. Same as on shampoos they tell you to use the same make shampoo etc.

Theres no point really, it just takes away stuff from the water like meds etc. It needs replecing often and is quite expensive, you might as well save the space for more media
