Hi all
hope someone can help me here
I have one black widow tetra with some kind of mouth fungus that has returned (treated once before and looked like it cleared up although left his mouth with a bit missing but still eating ok and eventually put back in main tank)
I also have a female congo tetra with stringy white/clear poo. I have put the black widow tetra and the female congo tetra along with another female that I bought at the same time into the hospital tank and have added pimafix and Myazin (this seemed to work last time on the mouth fungus except that it has come back). I only have the one hospital tank so is there anything else I can add for the stringy poo. Not sure what is causing this but yesterday it was actually less stringy more substantial looking and opaque and red towards the anus end of the poo. Is this a parasite? Today it is back to not there or a bit stringy.
any ideas?

Do the fish with the white/stringy poo have inflamed or sore looking anus? If the answer is "yes" then this is most likely internal parasites, if it is "no" it is most likely internal bacteria you need to treat the fish for.
Both problems are very infectious in fish, so it is best to treat all the the tank and fish to have the best chances of completely irradicating it from your tank and fish.
Myxazin is good for treating external bacterial and fungal infections, the same goes for Pimafix, but neither are that great/effective for treating internal bacterial infections, personally i would use "anti internal bacteria" by Interpet for treating your fish with if they have internal bacterial infection. If your fish have internal parasites though, Fish Zole (Metronidazole) is reported to be very effective at treating fish for internal parasites;

I would personally just use the Pimafix for treating the mouth rot (since Pimafix is safe to combine with other meds) and one other med for treating the internal bacteria or parasites :thumbs: .

thanks Tokis
I will see what my LFS has by way of internal treatments and will add some to the main tank as well, just in case
