Around an hour ago I fed my fish, the usual amount, then around half an hour later I find that one of my guppies is lying upside down dead in my tank. There's not a mark on him and he seemed to be fine, what could've caused this?!

I have done all the relevant tests and all my levels are fine.

Around a month ago a similar thing happened, but this was through the day, I looked at them in the morning and they were all fine, went to work, came back and one of them had died, once again no sign beforehand that he was ill.

By the way I bought the fish around October time, so it can't be old age or anything!

What should I do now?

Thanks

To be honest it hard to say without any symtoms, guppys are prone to every desease in the book.
There no longer a hardier fish, dosn't take much to finish them off.
Any fish with long stringy white poo.

I never saw any, all i noticed was that the one today when fed was swimming with his mouth kind of out of the water for about 20 seconds. Thats all i can come up with :/

They do go to the top like that when they are dying.
If a guppys is laying on the gravel for long periods of time they something wrong, or even resting in plants.
Was he thin or bloated.
Was his tail stredded or any red streaks in the tail.

No I checked him afterwards and he seemed fine, normal size and no shreds or rips at all.

I really don't know what to make of it.

I only have 2 left and now they seems to be swimming towards the top! What can I do? Could it be anything to do with the temperature, that seems to have gone up since I last saw it.

Also, I have had a recent outbreak of snails, could that have anything to do with it?
Thanks again

How much as the temp gone up.
Any rotting dead smails in the tank as they can be toxic to fish.

The temperature is about 27 degrees centigrade
All the snails seem to be alive

The fish are still at the top, what can I do?

Sorry thought you meant the fish that dead was just as the top of the tank, not the rest of them.
Is there plenty of aeration in the tank.
Need more info on size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Immediate water change for now, and increase aeration in the tank.

I now have 2 guppies in a 10 gallon tank

0 Ammonia
PH Around 7
Nitrate 0
Nitrite 5

My filter doesn't have any way of changing the aeration!

Are the fish gasping or just staying around the top of the tank.
If your nitrite reading 5 thats why they are at the top of the tank.
Immediate water change.
How long has the tank been set up.

It doesn't look like they're gasping, if they were would their mouths constantly be opening? They seem to be opening them around once every 5 seconds or so.

I re-did the test because when I wrote that it had been left out for a while and the colours had bled like they do. The reading on the re-test shows Nitrate at around 25 and Nitrite at 0

I was about to change my water and I realise that I've ran out of de-chlorinator! Shops wont open till tomorrow morning

The tank has been set up since around October, I made sure it was cycled and everything.

Ok then thats fine.
Just check there gills over to make sure there not red and inflamed, or pale with excess mucas on them.

Just keep an eye on them for now.
Good luck.

Hi there, everything was going alright until this morning I noticed that my yello fish has suddenly developed a red line all around the edge of his tail. Any ideas what this could be?

Thanks
