One of my females jumped right out of her tank after I changed it, and into my mouses bedding. I don't know how long she has been out...I found her in the bag of bedding covered in alpine bedding. Her fins are kind of dried, she is still alive though. I should have put her lid on right away. I feel so bad. I HOPE SHE MAKES IT!!!!!!! :-( PRAY FOR MY FISH! She is one of my favorites. Is there anything I can do for her? I noticed she was gone because her male looked all depressed. They usually hide when they sleep, so I though she was asleep...but these two have been sleeping practically side by side the past few days...so I checked....good thing too. Her lid is on now. I feel so bad. :(

Lots of Bettas have jumped out, been discovered much later, and lived. Just keep an eye on her. If you have aquarium salt, use it. I think a product like Stress Coat would be good in this case, too, if you have it.

Animal bedding can draw moisture away from skin. I am praying for your little fighter, is she swimming ok? Definitely add a little salt to the water, stress coat or other slime coat enhancing products might help.

I second the stress coat and salt. Might be a good idea to keep the lights low so she rests, and if she'll eat, give her a high quality food like live bloodworms or frozen foods (blood worms, glass worms, etc.)

Good luck with your little lady!

I have to point out the story of Floor Boy - according to wuv, he laid on her fish room floor for something like 3 hours and has made a full recovery. She might come along and give you some ideas on how she treated him when she got him back into his cup.

Wishing the best for her.

Well, she is still alive, so I moved her into my ten gallon hospice tank....and I just got everyone out of there too...lol. Her fins are all stuck together, but she is eating. She used to be a pretty blue, and now she is brown. I work tonight. I'll pick up some stress coat while I am there....what is the highest the temp should be in a Betta tank. I thought I read 82...Is that right. I uped her temps for humidity, but I don't want to bake her.

awww poor little girl, lucky you found her before it was too late

I had a male plakat jump out of his tank at feeding time and land on the floor next to my dog's cage. There was dog hair all over the place and Dijon kept flip flopping around so much that he looked like he was wearing a fur coat :lol:

I put him back in his tank and added some salt and he recovered fine. He was quiet for an hour or two after due to the shock I guess, but he ate at dinner time the same day.

I hope your girl makes it. I believe 82 should be ok for her.

80-82 is the usual breeding range, so she'll be perfectly fine at that temp. They can even tolerate 90 degrees for short periods of time, but I WOULDN'T DO IT!!!! At 92-95, I think they start to die. I found this out the hard way with a severely malfunctioning heater.

The color change is probably just stress. The girls (males do, too, just not as much) tend to go pale grays and browns when they're stressed out.

If she's eating, then that's an extremely good sign.

:::UPDATE::::
The dried up part of her fins are falling off. I guess she will need to grow them all back, but she is a fighter. I know, if I help her, she will get through this. I will post picks by Sunday to keep you all updated, and see if anyone has any pointers on how to help further.
