i had tank up and running for a good 2 month now.

i have a 10 gallon, upgrading to a 22 gallon at end of month.

i have a red tailed shark very placid, 3 false julli cory cats, 2 panda garra's, 4 platies, one male guppy, and one dwarf gourami female and two snales.

everything gets on ok but while this be over crowded foe new tank? apart from the shark.

plus the two fish i lost was a female guppy, who had two large wounds and a male dwarf gourami.

im going to sound awfull here, but i was spraying fly spray around my living room forgetting there is a whole in my tank lid and i think this burnt my female guppy because i noticed it within minutes of me doing this and it said on the can lethal to fish, so i think this is why.

my male gourami got stuck in the large rock in the tank. there are many wholes in the rock that the fish hide in and he was stuck in one of the smaller wholes, god noes how he got there, i had hell of a job getting him out!

i dont think he was being bullied as i watch them and they all get along, even the shark! i am putting the red tailed shark up for rehoming, if i find a home for him then fantastic! But if i dont i cant say im that sorry, its just better for me as i dont have to buy a large tank for him in the future.

i no this is all probably my fault so is there any way to fix this?

i did have 4 other female guppys, they had large bellys and the pet shop told me they were pregnant, but no babys came and their stomachs got larger and they died???

not too sure what that was or if it was my fault but its horrible to loose fish and would like to do something if i can to prevent it.

i cycled the tank before the fish went in, tested it all good. and doing two 50% water changes a week?

so why am i loosing fish?

I kind of doubt that anything you sprayed had anything to do with the deaths. If it was toxic, it would have had an effect on more than just the 2 fish. You do have a lot of fish for a 10 gallon tank and maybe too many for a 22 gallon. Rehoming the RTBS is the best idea. They can become more aggressive as they get older and may pick on your other fsh. I guess that is possibly what happened to the guppy since it had wounds but those could have come after it died and the other fish started eating it.

Are you testing your water on a regular basis? What are your readings for ammonia and nitrite? It's possible that the 4 fish you got that were supposed to be pregnant could have brought a disease into the tank. You will need to keep a close eye on them for a while just to make sure you don't end up with more problems.

The first thing you need to do is test the water with an accurate test kit for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and ph and post the stats here, so we can see what is going on with your water quality  .

What is your average tank cleaning regime like (water changes, clean filter and substrate etc) and how do you go about it and how often?

The wounds on the female guppy, did she have these before she died? How long has the tank been set up for?
