I just bought two Angelfish yesterday and put them in my 30 gal. I have a 55 Gal cycling to move them to later. My questions are: They are staying at the bottom in the corner together, are they just getting used to their surroundings or is there something that isn't right for them? They are in a tank with 3 Platies, 1 Molly and a Bala Catfish(Columbian Catfish(small)). Also, the Associate at Petco told me that they are VERY agressive and that I couldn't put my Danios, Platies or many other fish with them(they are about 1.5 to 2 in without fins) What would be suitable tankmates for them? They seem to be doing fine with the other fish I have in there now(no aggression so far ;) )

Another question I have is about Oscars. My mother has an Oscar that she has had for 1 or 2 years, he is about 7 or 8 inches long now and she has him in a 10 gallon tank  . She wants me to take him and put him in one of my bigger tanks, but I don't want to have one of my big tanks with just one fish in it  . So if I were to take him and clear out my 30 gal(I know he would need more later, I just want to get him out of the 10 gal) what kinds of fish could I put with him?

Thanks for any info you can give.... :)

As far as the Oscar is concerned he has already outgrown the 30 gallon tank as well, so you certainly can't put any fish with him.

As far as the Angels are concerned I don't see why what you have would be a problem. As the Angels mature you may find that they get more aggressive, but ot terribly so.

So can I keep my Danios with my Angels? I took them all out of the tank when I put the Angels in. But if and when I move them to the 55 gallon, am I going to have to move the Danios again? Or should I just try a few in with them and see what happens?

In the case of the Oscar, what do you think would be the minimum tank requirement for him now? I talked to the lady at our lfs and she said that if I didn't take him that she would b/c she sometimes gets customers in that want bigger fish. I am just wondering if that would be the best thing for him. I really don't think my husband will let me get another big tank for just one fish (well he would but he would not be happy :/ )
