One was a sunset platy, the other has been my new endler. My platy i thought had white spot at the time but he never got any more that three whites spots on his entire body. He stuffered laboured breathing before he did die, i did add a spraybar to try and help him.

I did treat for ich with waterlifes protozin.

My endler only came tuesday and already had one white spot on his tail and part of his tail missing, the next day he had no tail and today he died. no laboured breathing though whilst he was alive. There is no other fin nipping going on

So both things they shared were a few white spots and white thread like poo, they both lost interest in food.

I have seen a couple of my other fish with white poo but not the clear thread like poo. My calio platy had a few white spots and a few others had the odd one on their tail fins but no ill health.

Some of my fish have been slightly flicking, so i then treated with waterlifes sterazin.

I have a 28 uk gallon planted tank thats about seven weeks old now, i did do a fishless cycle, i have an internal filter and an external and i also do a 25% weekly water change and a gravel vac. nitrites 0 ppm, ammonia 0 pppm, ph 7.4, 7 mg/l nitrate, 0.5 mg/l phosphate. Also there was 1 tsp per gallon of aquarium salt in my tank but am slowly removing this as i'd like to have a small shoal of cardinals.

All phosphate, nitrite, nitrate removers had been removed and no carbon in the filters.

I'm still getting a little bit of brown aglae but no other. http://www.thetropicaltank.co.uk/algae.htm

Question is should i give sterazin another dose.

Also i'd like to feed live foods like blood worms, baby brine shrimps and daphinia but am in fear of bringing in more parasites.

any advice gladly received.

You are using the wrong med for whitespot, long stringy white poo can be a bacteria infection or internal parasites, do the fish look bloated or skinny looking with a sunken in belly, is the anus red and inflamed, anything prutruding from the anus. this is the med below you should be using for whitespot.

hello wilder,

I did treat with protozin full course, then 48 hours and a water change did a full course of sterazin.

I actually phoned waterlife to ask about treatments. The guy there didn't think the fish had white spot he advised to use the sterazin.

Some of my male endlers did look a bit tucked up, all my other fish look fine.

I do have another male endler that looks like its on its way out.

I think i may have something in common with cybergoldfish, i'm not sure if he got his endlers from the same place as i did.
