Turtle Dead

MY Friend has an Indian river turtle.. which died 2 hours ago.. his arms and legs were stretched out..and his shell puffed up.. and his body hard.. he just wants to know if the turtle is actually dead or is it hibernating??? he was kept in a water... and ate well in fact he fed him 8 hours ago. He has him for 5 yrs now.. and cant overcome his loss.. please respond immediately.

as his arms and legs are stetche out i say its dead.
After all, if it was hibernating its limbs would be pulled out of the way
