Hi Guys,

One of my Turquoise Rainbows has been slowly developing sores on the side of his body. I have searched but can't seem to figure out what it is. Does anyone have any idea what it might be form the picture. He is still eating and swimming and getting with everyone else. I'm just hoping it's not something that might spread to my othre fish.

Size of tank?

Water stats?

Any other symptoms?

White stringy poo?

Flicing on rocks?

Give me more information and I might be able to help you

Sorry should have posted more stats. It's a 50 Gal planted tank with three other turqoise rainbows, three platy's, 7 cherry barbs and three clown loaches.

Water stats

Ammonia 0
Nitrate less than 10 ppm
Nitrite 0
PH 7.2
temp 79
30% water change done every week.

When I got this guy about two months ago he had what I thought at the time was just a scrape and I hoped that it would just heal over time. It developed into the sores he has now in a few weeks but hasn't got any worse or better in the last month. He is full of energy and schools with the others. Is very eager at feeding time too. No white stringy poo either. As far as I can tell the sores don't seem to bother him at all as there is no flashing or flicking at all. It doesn't look like there is anything in the sores either just kind of fleshy looking and sticking out a few mm with the scales around the edges slightly lifted.

Thanks for any ideas.

Ulcers are pink or white with dead white skin around the edges.
Want to make sure a parasite not involved so can you any some of these questions.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing, excess mucas, darting, erratic swimming, laboured breathing.
Get a magifying glass to see if you can see anything underneath the lifted scales.

No flicking or rubbing at all and other than the ulcers he seems healthy. I sat and looked for about half an hour and can't see any sign of parasites. He has been like this for at least a month now. Just wondering what could possibly cause that.

Thanks.

Can you issolate and use a bacterial med.
Sores can be caused by bad water quality, injury, bacterial, parasites.
