Hi guys,

I've been told that during the night, I'll want to turn off my CO2 system, so as not to suffocate my fish. Is this true? How would I go about turning off a CO2 system like Nutrafin uses, since it is just constantly producing CO2?

Thanks!

Those using presurised CO2 tend to use a solenoid to turn off the CO2 at night. With DIY that's not really an option. The pressure that would build up when using a normal pop bottle would probably cause it to explode.

I've been using DIY CO2 for a couple of months now, never had my fish gasping at the surface. Best idea i think is to keep an eye on your fish when the lights go out. If you see them gasping for air, get an airstone and leave it running through the night.
