will this harm/traumatize/kill the fry in any way? i just fished two out and it took me like 45 mins and one whole pair of clothes (i was SOAKED)... there's got to be an easier way

I use a turkey baster all the time for angel fry that take "the ride". No matter how careful you are siphoning a fry tank with airline tubing, you always get a few, especially in the first week when they are really tiny. I just check the bucket before I dump it, and retrieve any fry that got too close. Just suck them up & squirt them back into the tank.

For deliberately moving fry I use a plastic soup ladle (and I use a plastic measuring jug rather than a net for catching adults). Touch wood, I haven't had any accidental suckings-up yet.

I don't accidently suck any up either... I want to catch them though... the tank is deep, wouldn't they swim out of the ladle?
