just got a frozen prawn and put it in the microwave to defrost it

i put it in the tank (a small part of the fleshy bit) and it sunk and he has just ignored it, anyway of getting him to eat it?

Hi there,
I've 3 pairs of GBRs in my community tank and they get frozen prawn daily. I use the following method:

1. I use ASDAs frozen raw king prawn.
2. Use a sharp cooks knife and slice a 2 cm piece off.
3.leave on chopping board for 1 minute.
4. Slice thin slices off the piece
5. Chop slices so the result looks like a paste - it isn't as you'll find out.
6. Feed to the fish from the finger - that way it doesnt drop to the floor where the corys wolf it up.

I don't use cooked prawns as fish don't see them in the wild
I don't like marine prawns for freshwater fish.

My GBRs breed at least once a fortnight although the eggs rarely make it through the night

The fish also take flake and frozen bloodworm.

I had a sim prob a long long time ago when my father had a very shy oscar  yea I know unheard of! He was tryign to feed him some kind of fresh food like you are with the ram but if he droped it to the floor same prob as you cory's would nom nom nom it up!

He actually went fishing so to speak to feed his shy oscar! He used sewing thread and tied the food to it and just did what you woudl do while fishing...toss it in and dangle it close to where the oscar loved to hide! Sooner or later curiosity got the better of him. After a couple of days like that the oscar went from shy to typical oscar behaviour! Toss food in water and BOOM he was on it in a blink of an eye!
