Trying To Boil A Log

O.k. so how should i go about boiling it? I can set in in the pot but it's got a long knoby part that sticks out of the pot. Would it be o.k. to boil it like this?

Just stick it in a plastic toy box and pour boiling water over it.

If it partly fits, just boil the one side for 10 minutes and then turn it to boil the other side.
But take care because the wood will be hot hot hot !

Do not boil for longer than that or the wood will start turning to mush and leach even more.

Ideally and best of all, you should just soak it in hot water (changed daily) in a large container (or even bath) - for up to a couple of weeks.

However all that said, it's perfectly ok to give it a quick rinse under some warm water and plonk it in the tank you'll just have to endure some browny water for a while.
