just wondering how big they get, cause iv got 1 monster who is about 1 inch long, an i was wonderin how big hes gna get.

Well, better be glad, or hope you do only have one. They breed outta control. They are livebearers and can have up to 50 or more at a time. But, as for the size department. It depends on the size of your tank, but, most of the time they tend to get around 2 inches. That's in a large tank. I have a 30 gallon, hundreds of trumpets and the largest is 2 inches. I do not believe they get much bigger then that. They are cool snails to have, they keep your gravel nice and clean, but beware, they will breed way outta control.
just a tip.

one trumpet snail buy itself will breed... and they do get out of control after about 2 months when the babies are big enough to see them!

With my current snail situation, I can't for the life of me understand why someone would put them in their aquarium on purpose.

I sincerely hope you won't besorry.

Cheers,

There are pluses and minuses with trumpet snails. They are good to have if you have a sand substrate. They bore in the sand and will keep it from compacting or keep dangerous gas pockets from forming. They are also a good barometer of whether you are over feeding or not. Unfortunately, once you see the signs of overfeeding (a population explosion) it is too late. The down side has already been mentioned and I am experiencing a full bore population explosion right now. I will be taking the tank down this coming weekend and changing substrate to get rid of them. I would feel rather comfortable saying that I have 5,000 in my 29 gallon. Most are very small but they are getting larger and continue to multiply. The largest of mine are around 1" long. I think that is about as big as they get.
