I have 120 litre community tank with 3 Rams, 3 female Bettas, 3 Panda Cories, 6 Glowlights and 6 pygmy cories in it.
I also have a 25L and a 15L with a male Betta in each.
I have now obtained a small Tripiquarium. I can't set it up until later in the summer because we are having a conservatory built and I intend to put it in the dining room and it might get disturbance from the building, SO, I am thinking about what I can put in it.
I am going to move my pygmies because the Rams bully them. I would like guppies but how many can I have? Should I only have males? Will I have room for anything else?
Suggestions please... :fun:

With 55g you have quite a choice. Being a cichlid fan I would personally go for brichardi cichlids and pop the rams in with them with perhaps some cockatoos and apistos. Guppies are nice too but they breed so quickly, their nickname is millions fish and I've found out why.

The Tropiquarium 55 is 40liters by the way -_-
just in case you thought it was 55 gallons. It's actually just over 10 US gallons.

Oh right :p I thought it was 55 gallons as well...

Well, with 6 pygmies going in, there isn't that much room left - you could put in a trio of sparkling gouramies (1 male, 2 females) OR a trio of guppeis (get 1 male, 2 females or, alternatively, 3 males to stop them breeding) OR a trio of endler's (keep same as the guppies) OR 5 or so spotted rasboras OR a pair/trio of honey gouramies OR a single dwarf gourami OR a trio of platies OR a couple of otos OR a tiro of mosquito fish. There's other fish that would work but I suspect listing them isn't realy necessary as it sounds like it's the guppies you are interested in.

Thank you for the replies. Yes it is just a little tank which is why I'm giving it some thought.
I do love the guppys (remember I have 2 Betta males - somthing about the tails!).
I also like gouramies but I thought it would be too small for them.
I'm also thinking perhaps just put the Pygmies in and add 5 Cardinals later, the Pygmys would shoal with them like they used to with the glowlights before the Rams arrived.
So much choice - not enough tank

There are plenty of gouramies that don't require a big tank (I listed a few before). Also, I wouldn't get cardinals - they actualy get quite a bit bigger than, neons for example, so you can't realy keep a decent-szied school. They can get to about 1.5" so, with the pygmies, there isn't realy that much room.

I can see what you mean about the betta and guppy tails :p

Ahh well I'll just have to settle for some guppies then... :D

edit - Why only a single dwarf gourami?
