Hi

i have one valis plant and one amazon sword in my tank.

they were purchased saturday. They cam in small black pots and the roots are wrapped in something that looks like cotton wool. I put them in the tank in the pots with the wool stuff. Should i have removed the pots and wool stuff and let the gravel hold down the roots or is what i done not a problem

cheers

Either or really.

If you have deep enough substrate, take to roots out of the pot, carefully unwrap the mineral wool, and then bury it. If the plant/flow is heavy you may need to rest a couple of bigger stones onto to keep it there.

Otherwise, leaving them in the pots is ok - they will spreadoutside somewhat, but their growth will be limited.
