Fish Crazy
Hi,
I have my two clowns in a hospital tank with the right dosage of tropical marine centre ich cure. Allegedly this is a professional product (whatever that means) that is used also by the LFS and will be effective against marine ich. It says "particularly effective against cryptocaryon" and the active ingredient is copper sulphate which needs to be dosed twice daily.
I asked the LFS guy how to use it, he said "just use it 'till the fish is well", which is vague to say the least.
But this seems to fly in the face of ich treatment - that the treatment affects the ich after it has hatched and is in its mobile state. But whilst on the fish it is protected by the fishes slime coat. Is this true or not?
The other issue is, it doesn't affect the tank itself. I have a feeling I am giong to have to redo this treatment later on but for a much longer time (6 weeks) for any active crypto to die in the main tank.
Final question - how do I return the fish to the main tank afterwards? I am wary of netting them and putting them back in the tank, when the net is going to hold copper poluted watar from the hospital tank. What do you normally do to return the fish?
thanks for your help!
