EDIT:: if you want to talk about fish and other things add my msn hari--bx@hotmail.co.uk

If your keeping the goldfish in there which is my understanding, then your already way overstocked, plus IMO coldwater and tropical dont mix.

Clown fish are marine fish, not freshwater so thats a no. If you mean clown loaches then again no because they grow bigger than the tank.

im getting rid of the the fish i wana start a fresh with tropicals

right ok, wasnt sure about that one.

as i said though clownfish need salt water, not freshwater.

In a tank that small you would probably be looking at a male betta plus any smaller fish you want, bottom dwellers are better with bettas. You could have some of the smaller corydoras, or ottocinclus (these can be quite difficult to keep alive though).

it aint that small i mite get a bigger one my birthday november n chrismas and i got £120 lol ok no clown fish but u suggest any tropical fish io love tropicals i dont like bottom feeders i like just fish:)

i dont like bottom feeders i like just fish

I hate to break this to you but bottom feeders ARE fish.

Bettas only tend to do well with small bottom feeders because most of the common and popular schooling fish like tetras, danios, angels and barbs ect, will bite and nip a bettas fins. Since small bottom feeding fish like corydoras, khulie loaches, or small algae feeders like Otocinclus' are peaceful, they are the best fish to keep with a betta.

35 litres is 8 gallons, so actually no, it isn't that big and there really isn't a large amount of fish you can put into it . A single male betta with 4 PYGMY ( as in dwarf) corydoras , or 3-4 male guppies or endlers. Or even some micro rasboros or ember tetras ( very small) . There really isn't anything else that you can put in without cramping it .

If you get a bigger tank you will have a lot more choice of fish. I would advise you look for a second hand tank . You can get a great deal for £120. I bought my 30 gallon tank ( 3 foot long ) with a fully working Eheim external filter for only £22. The filter alone is worth over £50 and that came free with the tank!!! It's really worth looking in the classifieds of your local papers and at car boot sales for a good used tank.

thanksman u helped me alot £22! that amazing what are puppies btw

It say's £39.99 there. That seems expensive. Ok the tank is a brand new kit but you can get a MUCH bigger tank than that for a similar price second hand. Also ten gallons is only 2 gallons more than what you have now. 2 gallons is a very small amount of water so you wouldn't be any better off at all. I'd say get yourself a good quality secondhand 20 gallon or bigger.

Puppies? What are you on about? I said Guppies. Surely you know what a guppy looks like?

Hi
Do not put Guppies in with a male betta  He will kill them! He will see their bright colours and consider them a threat. If that doesn't happen the guppies will more than likely turn on him. Especially in an 8 gallon tank.

8 gallons can only technically hold 8 inches of adult fish. A male betta is about 2 inches so you'll be left with 6 inches, which is not enough room for the likes of rasboras etc...as they are shoaling fish that should be kept in shoals. Pygmy cory's are ok but require a mature tank to survive.

I'd suggest you read, read and read some more before limiting your choices by having a male betta. With female bettas, a single one is fine. But if you have more than one you'll need a minimum of 4 to spread out any aggression and 8 gallons isn't big enough for four.

what are puppies btw
little furry things that eat, poop, wee and chew the hell out of your home at times, they look cute and love the world but some grow into monsters, just like children really

im not joking, some children do grow into monsters, well.....................some are monsters from the start  and never grow out of it :hyper: .......Hi Tigrex

I personally think it's the mad owners that create the furry monsters by treating them like spoilt little children :p

Tigrex.... You really have some reading to do. And don't take offense to that.... it's just the truth
