Hi, I will be buying some tropica plants soon, but i don't know how big the pots are to be able to determine how many pots I'll need of each plant. Also, It'd be great if anybody knew about how many stems you get per pot for stem plants.

cheers :good:

the pots are the same as the Aquafluer pots that you'll see in LFS. So about 1.5" diameter. As for stems, it really depends on which plants you go for...

Is there a reason you are buying Tropica plants? You know you'll get charged double the price of Aquafluer.

hi, I am buying tropica, as aquafleur don't stock all of the plants i want, and I want well established plants.

cheers :good:

have you tried here

http://www.plantedtanks.co.uk/

I thought Aquafluer were pretty much up to standard as far as types of plants?? As for established plants, Aquafluer are easy as good if not better than Tropica imo.

I have looked at plantedtanks.co.uk, but I've heard their plants aren't as good as tropica. Also, aquafleur don't have Eleocharis parvula, they only have E. acicularis.

also, on the aquajardin website they have pictures of all of the plants, but do you know if they are picture of the plants you'll actually get, or are they really big ones to try to get you to buy them?

cheers :good:

wow, there plants are very expensive! They are up with the prices of TGM. £7.50 for an Aponogeton crispus is ridiculous if you ask me. £5.50 for some Vallis! I personally wouldn't buy all of the plants from there. You then have the postage on top of that. I have used Plantedtanks.co.uk and i have found them to be very good.

As for the size, i think they are a little over sized.

Aquafluer do, do Dwarf hairgrass, i bought some the other day.

I don't exactly like the prices from TGM but I have to admit the standard of plants is fantastic, I guess it's not just down to brand though is it. It also depends on how the LFS who stocks them maintains the tanks they're kept in.

My LFS tropica stock tends to wither away within two weeks of a delivery.

True, i mean when they are in proper holds with C02 running they can bump an extra couple of £ on. But i now use MA at East Bridgford for plants and they are using the same holds as TGM, with C02, but stock Aquafleur and there is no difference, you get 4 pots for a tenner. I bought some HC 'cuba' from TGM a few months back and got charged £15 for 2 pots. I then visited MA @ Bridgford and got 4 pot of the same quality for a tenner!

I'll have a look in my local MA tomorrow hopefully, but unfortunately, they aren't the best for plants, although another garden centre nearby stocks tropica plants.

cheers :good:

Totally agree, I always buy plants when I am at Maidenhead and they also inject CO2/nutrients etc and they are usually in fantastic condition. It's just a massive shame it's quite a distance from me.
