This confused me a little when i read the description on the online shop selling it.

We therefore recommend PLANT NUTRITION liquid for aquariums with few plants and a relatively large number of fish.

Does this mean its not a good trace fert for heavily planted tanks?

There are two products by Tropica the standard plant nutrition and the plant nutrition plus, the 'plus' bit means it also contacts NO3 and PO4.

I think what they are getting at is that in a tank with lots of fish the NO3 and PO4 will be provided by the fish waste so there is no need to add more. In tanks with lots of plants and less fish there may been a need to added extra NO3 and PO4 so they create a product that combines a trace mix with added PO4 and NO3.

'Plant nutrition' is a trace mix (and a very good one at that) its just whether you also need to add NO3 and PO4 that's all :)

Do you know the levels of PO4 and NO3 in your tank?

Hope that helps

Sam

aha I see , it no made sense to me when I read it. I am dosing Flourish Nitrogen and Phosphate anyway but ive ran out of trace and heard that its a good one (pricey tho - is it worth the extra pennies?)

Yeh it is a bit expensive, if only they did a dry version! But it is very definitely worth the extra money. Tom Barr swears by it and that's good enough for me! :) I'll be switching when I've run out of my existing trace mix.

Ok well I think I'll go for it too, as have heard quite a few people reccomend it. Will go for the big bottle tho as its loads cheaper.

Thanks Sam
