My girlfirend and I just started playing around with triops... We've hatched our first few and they're growing strong and crazy like triops do. We also have put together a little Eclipse System 3 to keep the little guys in (http://www.marineland.com/products/consumer/con_systems.asp) Our question tho is would it be possible to add something else to liven things up? We were thinking maybe a Betta or other solitary species. I'd *like* a few neons but I'm afraid they'd become triops food and I don't want to crowd things too much.

Ideas? Anyone else playing around with triops at all?

If they Eclipse 3 is a 3gal tank, like I think it is, it would be too small for anything other than the triops, and maybe a couple of shrimp, or a snail. Bettas are solitary, but I'm not sure it they would eat the triops or if the triops would munch on the bettas tail, and if you hatch too many it would be overcrowded.

It's crazy that in the pictures of that tank from which the links you provided, they have handfuls of fish in the tank. 3 Gallon tanks are cruel for anything larger than a triop!

For that price, you could find yourself a beautiful 10-30 gallon set up from Ebay, with everything you need to house 15+ fish!
