Trimming Wisteria?

how to trim wisteria...in some sites and other forums, i have heard that you cut wisteria from the stem and replant it like any other stem plant...In another forum and some sites, i have heard that if you cut it from the stem (top of plant), they will die from that area and eventually kill the whole plant and therefore must be cut at the base of plant to what ever length and replant it and the roots will eventually grow back...So how do you exactly trim wistera???

Wristeria is annoying. it breaks apart when moved instead of bending. jsut snap off where ever you wanna cut it. it will come back form the breaking point.

normaly i cut mine right above a couple of offshoots that way it doesn't look to bad, but then again mine grows so fast that i have to cut it every 2 days or so
