Alright, so my large leafed red plant (forget its name) has grown a lot since I got it and I would like to trim it. So do I just cut it below the leaf and it will grow back two leaves?

With a sword you trim the stem as close to the crown as you can which is the very bottom, the remainer you dont trim will rot so thats why you trim it as low as you can.

The same is true with lilies. Were you referring to your lilies? Coz that's the only red plant on your plant list (20 gallon high tank).

Some of those plants I ended up not getting, including the aquarium lilly, but it looks similar to it, but grows a bit larger and has darker red leaves.

Also, can you confirm that planting the cuttings will grow?

If the plant in question is similar to that of a lily then, no, the cutting won't grow into another plant. Only stem plants can be replanted via stem cuttings. Others (ie. swords, plants with bulbs, grassy plants) won't/don't grow from cuttings.

Ahh yes, I just figured out what the plant is, its a tiger lily, so I guess no replanting.

Most of these plants you can just pull the leaf off at the base with a bit of a tug or I find running my finger down the stem to the base and then breaking it off works well, that way to get pretty much the whole leaf, nothing left to rot :)
