Hi Everyone,

well i've finally got hold of some hairgrass for my 40G. 3 hours of fiddling about in the early hours of this morning and all planted in tiny bits over the gravel (4/5 strands per plant)

the problem is it's all about 6 inches tall and it needs to be about 2 inches. shall i trim it straight away or leave it a while for the roots to form first??

Sorry for the delayed response - I'm on 12 hour shifts, 7 day weeks (that's an 84 hour week BTW) at the moment, add this to a new baby equals not funny and no spare time!

Let the hairgrass settle for a week or so then trim.

no worries gf225, i guessed as much. 84 hours hey, i hope theyre looking after you.

thanks for the advise, i called andy green to see what he thought and said the same. so i think i'll leave it to grow out for a couple of weeks then give it a good trim. it's not too pretty at the moment but i'm sure it'll get there.

heres a pic so far

It will I'm sure. You have similar lighting, CO2 etc. to me so I can't see a problem. Hairgrass is quite easy if these two factors are in abundance. What substrate do you have?
