I went to a different fish shop in the next town and was looking to replace my recently departed platy.

In the platy tank were about 8 platies. All had cramped fins, 3 were on the surface, 2 near enough on their sides and 2 were dead. The one I chose was the only one swimming normally ( as well as he could anyway).
I asked the young lady at the counter if I could have the fish.

Armed with two nets she caught the platy and almost crushed the poor thing between the two nets and finally put it in 2 inches of water. I insisted she added more water, took the fish home and rested the bag for 35 mins. Since I put the fish in the tank he has not come out of the cave.

This taught me a lessen to never buy fish there again. The only reason I took this fish home was to give it a better chance compared to the rest of its tank mates.

I just thought I'd share this with you, sorry if you find it boring.

YOU SHOULDNT OF BOUGHT HIM!!!!if the tankmates were dead he could have a desise which will pass to your other fish killing your whole tank...i no its hard but only buy healthy fish

He's the only fish in my quarantine tank so he won't harm anything.

 Buy it. Oh no I wouldn't give 1p. I took it off of theur hands for nothing, to see if I could improve its health which at the moment 5 hours later is not doing to bad. The fins are no longer clamped and he is feeding.
