It looks like the fish have either ich or velvet and some fin rot. I noticed a couple of white spots on the fish yesterday, so I started treating with Coppersafe last night - Now I am noticing the beginning of fin rot. I also noticed clamped fins a couple of days ago, so I started treating with Melafix and aquarium salt. I have checked my water readings, everything is good, but I did a 50% water change anyway before adding the Coppersafe.
So, a few questions here:

1. How long does it usually take to see improvement like the white spots going away? I have the lights off in the tank and raised the temp from 79 to 81.

2. Is it ok to treat with Coppersafe and Melafix at the same time?

3. Is the Melafix supposed to have a strong earthy odor to it?

These are 5 community fish in a 10 gallon tank.

Thanks for the help - Derek

No photos right now. I'm certain that it is ich. Small white spots on the fish and they are scratching on the bottom of the tank.

I had the same th

Ing and all my fish died use tc tetracycline

Or methanal blue bath just fill a thing with conditioned water with treatment and put him in for half an hour or so

U will kill all ur bacteria causing an ammonia spike and all ur fish may die so good Luck

What kind of community fish are in your tank? If they are not salt sensitive, you can up the temp, slowly, to 85F and use aquarium salt to treat the ich and not damage your beneficial bacteria in your filter. This always worked for me.And what are your water parameters?
