do i have to remove any plants (i only have free floating java moss) when i treat my infected fish with white spot/ich medication??? Im thinking that the moss may absorb some of the medication i put into the tank. Thanks for any replies.

i have just treated my tank with white-spot treatment (contains 37mg/l Formaldehyde and 0.32mg/ml Malchite Green) and have just noticed the tank was close to crystal clear in a couple of hours...i have just removed the java moss. How long does the tank water stay the bluish colour coz mine seems to have cleared up drastically??? do i have to do a 50%water change and repeat treatment??? Might hav been the moss which absorbed the colour that's why i removed it...I do not have any carbon in the filter. just foam.

I would remove the java moss.

The blue clears up really really fast. I would do a 25% water change and repeat the treatment. When the ick starts falling off into the gravel this is when the medication works so don't be fooled when you see it fall off, still medicate.

I havent used medications to cure ich in years.
Just turn the heat up to the mid 80s(F) and do water changes every other day, thoroughly vacuuming the gravel every time.
About 10-12 days later the ich will be gone.
