Hi,

I recently lost a gourami to what I think was dropsy. She was treated in a hospital tank for two weeks but only deteriorated so we put her out of her misery. I think we removed her from the tank when she was showing early symptoms (she had an internal lump on one side of her body).

Yesterday I noticed a particularly ill looking zebra danio. An apparent large ulcer on it's side had burst. It looked rather unpleasant and beyond treatment so we removed her instantly.

I'm guessing they were both infected by the same bacteria -

I wanted to treat the tank to prevent further infection but I'm unsure about what I can do with clown loaches.

I was about to give them a mild salt bath but have just read somewhere you can't give scaleless fish salt baths. I have Interpets anti-internal bacteria treatment - which I'm unsure about using too - and I've lost the dosage guide.

I have a further 9 danios, the other gourami to the pair, 4 fighting fish, and 2 plecos.

Is there anything I can do?

How about moving the Loaches to another tank while you treat the other, then do a partial water change and return the loaches after a period of time? Just an idea.
