the last few days some of my fish have been rubbing against decor etc, i assume from what i have been told and researched that there is either ich or flukes in there with them. i started the treatment for ich today using waterlife protozin. it says to treat over 6 days adding treatment on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th day i am only adding 5ml to my 90L tank which is enough for 75L as i have a loach in there and my tank is only about 3 months old max so relatively new. i have taken all my snails and shrimps out as it is harmfull to them.

am i doing right?

do i need to do water changes between treatments?

do i still feed during treatment period?

the only symptoms my fish had was the rubbing, no red spots or sores etc and no white spots except for 1 but not sure if its always been there....... im keeping a close eye on them but cant see any other symptoms except the rubbing

the last time my fish had ich i slowly increased the temperature to 31 degrees.
after 30 degrees the ''ich'' cant survive or reproduce.....

so take the temp up step by step, a degree an hour, until its at 30
then leave it 5 - 7 days and see how you get on ::)

hope it helps

i have already added the first part of ich treatment today so i think i may as well carry it on.... its only a 4 treatment job over 6 days (apparently) im still not sure if it is ich, they have all the symptoms but no white spots, so it may be flukes but again no red sores or spots...... weird  i didnt want to put chemicals in my tank but since i have started and spent most of the afternoon trying to catch all my shrimp i guess i may as well continue, i have put my temp up to 28 degrees but im not sure if my fish would be ok at a higher temp. see sig for tank stock below, fingers crossed

snails and shrimps should not get effected by ich because they are invertabrates. so they would/should of been perfectly fine anyways.
well yeah, carry on the treatment and see how it goes, if nothing changes then maybe try my method???

can i just say, its the first time ive come across another matt lee haha

the treatment says on the bottle that the copper in the fluid kills invertibrates so thats why i took them out..... took ages to find them and still dont know if i have got them all..... i put about 30 in about 4 weeks ago but only found 19! i guess some may have been fish food and i did find 2 dead in the filter last filter wash!!!!!!!!!

my wife says the worlds a dangerous place with 2 matt lees in it........ :hyper: lol

i think she must be right! too right haha

yeah i see if there is a copper treatment involved.
well, the invertabrates and snails are always difficult to keep if you ask me,
any fish can get peckish, and to say the least snails seem to just fall over and die anyways.
so ive kinda decided to keep a small few.

have your shrimps been fine?
ive never actualy had one in my tank, and i was considering getting one or 2 like.....

my shrimps are doing fine, i have a guy local that breeds them and sold me 28 cherrys and 2 big amanos for £8.50 :hyper: bargain..... they do hide alot but do a great job of cleaning the plants, ornaments, decor etc. i have a 3d backgroung and they venture out sometimes but sneak into the crevises/cracks etc so still quite hard to see! the amanos are easier as they are about 2.5/3 inches now and nothing really has a go at them but they are transparent!!! i would recommend shrimps in big groups but they are £2 each from my lfs so thats probably why people dont get many but not everyone has a breeder selling them dirt cheap near them.

the guy selling them doesnt post either but i met him on here, his name is paul and always has an ad in the livestock section

i did see some big shrimp today at lfs, i think they are called bamboo shrimp but they called them something else (cant remember) they were cool n about 4/5 inches long but were about £6.50 each!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
