Treating Ich With Ottos

I am in the midst of treating a bout of Ich with Super Ich Cure (API). As I have a couple of Ottos in this tank, I am dosing at 1/2 the amount and repeating after 48 hours. Have reduced lighting hours and raised temp to 86~88F. Prior to beginning treatment I did a 40~45% water change with the gravel vac and removed the carbon pad from my Eheim Classic 2217 external cannister filter.

What I noticed is that the 'blue' colouring of the water didn't last very long. The parasite is no longer visible on any of the hosts that previously showed except for one Dwarf Rainbow. I have the following concerns:

1) Are the meds still working effectively after the colour disappears?

2) As I'm now at the end of the treatment cycle (have yet to do the 25% water change...), should I dose the Super Ich Cure at the same rate and wait another 48 hours (i.e. 3 x doses over 3 x 48 hours with no water changes except for at the beginning of treatment)?

3) If "no" to # 2 (above), should I do the finishing 25% water change to complete the initial course, start slowly dropping temp back to 78F over several days and resume normal maintenance? Or should I merely postpone the water change (let the residual meds sit, whatever may be left of them) and wait to see what happens?

Any advice is appreciated.

When the spots fall off, the cycle is NOT complete.... After the spots fall off its the most important time to keep up treatment, keep your treatment up for approx 16 days. If you do a water change, ensure that the relevant amount of treatment is added back into the tank.

The colour disappearing is completely normal and this does not mean the treatment in not effective
