I will be in a similar situation. I am heading back to school in a week and need some ideas on how to move Jack. I read other posts that said to put the fish in a jar(holes in the top of course) and travel with tank water secured, but I'm just wondering if there are any other ideas out there that may be easier for me. I will be traveling very little back and forth from home, only on vacations where they kick us out of the dorms, so that isn't a problem for me.
Lyn, if you are going to be gone for only a day or two, you can just leave wolfy at the dorm. A fast once in a while is good for them. That will just put less stress on both of you, and if you will be gone a little longer than that, either take him, or learn to trust your roomate. It's not that hard to feed a fish, and a skipped meal wont kill him. Just make sure the roomate knows how much to feed him and when, and also how to tell if there is a problem with him like a bacterial infection. The only times I will bring Jack home are the major breaks, like Thanksgiving, winter break, spring break and Easter. And since I am at a religious school

we have extra days off for christian holidays. I know I will be going home more times than those holidays, but I have known my roomates for one or two years, and I trust them completely, and one of my roomates is bringing her fish. Anyways, sorry for the long winded rant. That many trips is not that good for wolfy, so just take him for long breaks. And traveling with him frequently on the train probably isnt a great idea either, but obviously you have no other mode of transportation. So just leave him at school for short breaks, and learn to trust the roomate. That's all the advice I can give you.
