Just got back from a 5 day trip and I noticed that my Oranda has translucent white splotches on it's tailfin.
It may be fin rot because there is a small part of it's fin that did deteriorate. The deterioration isn't raggedy though, it's almost like someone took a hole puncher and punched out a bit of it's fin. Another thing I've noticed is that it doesn't want to move it's tail fin too much off the bottom.
The water parameters are fine, the tank has been cycled a long time ago and my oranda lives in a 29gal by itself with no sharp objects.
Do you guys think it's fin rot or something else?
What would you recommend to kill off the bacteria?
Any info would be great.

Yep sounds like it could be finrot  .....

Now to treat it you may get a few different ideas....personally I favour Melafix -works great for me. or try a commercially available product from your lfs or aquarium salt is recomended by some ;)
