Transferring Fish Question

hiya everybody ive just upgraded my tank from a ten gall to a 40 gall and was wondering how or which is the best way to put my fish in shud i put fresh water in so far high then heat it up with a new heater and filter then when its heated can i slowly transferr my filter from old to new tank with my old water and fish or is there another complicated way of doing this

Hi

Did you fill up the new tank with a bit of the water From the old tank so there will only be a slight change of water propoties. To transfer them into the new tank you should get a large bowl ( this is what I do when I transfer fish from one tank to another) full of the old tanks water and put a couple of the fish in there, you then slowly add the new water to the bowl so there is not a shock to their system, you should add about a half a mugfull at a time to slowly introduce them to the new water, you leave them five minutes and then do the same three or four times. Then you put them in the new tank, you repeat this untill all the fish are in the new tank.

Really It's just what you would do if you buy a new fish and itroduce it into your tank.
