Hey all I got my new tank today (aqua one aqua style 850) all set up. I changed my old filter from established tank moving the old media into my new tank. How long would you wait until moving my fish over? Also do you need to use the correct plastics bags to move the fish over as its all new water (going to transfer fish as I would if I just bought them) ?

What's the recommend amount of fish you could put in this tank it's 165 litre and I'm going to run it as a community tank with silver dollar fish as the focal point?

Thank Paul

Ps sorry about all the questions

You want the fish to be wherever the established media is, so if the media is in the new tank, put the fish in the new tank. I wouldn't bother with plastic bags etc - if the old water and new water are from the same source (so have the same parameters), just temperature match them and net the fish from the old into the new. Maybe worth putting some of the old water into the new - there will be minimal bacterial benefit from doing so, but will do no harm.

Recommended amount of fish would vary depending on the species fish, but a *vague* guideline would be about 40 inches of adult fish for fish under 3 inches e.g. 20 ish rummy nose tetras. What fish do you have currently?

Unfortunately silver dollars are much too big for that size tank :(

Well I've set the new tank away to get rid of the cloudiness from the new gravel (I did rinse it) so should I transfer the fish over sometime in the next 24 hours?

If not silver dollar fish what would you recommend?

Honestly, I'd put your cycled media back in with the fish, until your new tank is ready.

Your fish are now without a cycled filter, and your bacteria have nothing to feed on; they could very well start to die off (not likely, true, but possible).

What are the dimensions of the tank, is your water hard or soft and from how far away will you be looking at the tank? What fish do you currently have?

It's 80x44x56 cm no idea in old money I currently have 3 male guppys, 6 neon tetras, pleco and a German blue ram cichild.

The fish and the filter really do need to be in the same tank. The bacteria should not die off, but now there is not a lot taking care of ammonia in the tank where the fish are.
