Hello,

I've been given a 110 litre tank/ 24gallons (UK Gallons)

it was used once about 10 years ago for fish and then after them a snake.

Currently soak testing all the gear in the garage.

Came with a Fluval 2 under water filter and a powerhead 201 filter system for under gravel filter and some heaters and airpumps although i'll probably not fit the other 2 airpumps. I have the Fluval set to ripple the water to get air into it.

no idea where i'll put it once soak testing is done though but i'll avoid direct sunlight!

Been to my local aquarium centres so far Whisby Garden centre has good staff in it they were very helpful and P@H were well... not around maybe 2 staff in!

but I need to sort out it a location and then wait a few weeks...

no idea on stock yet, although I'll be avoiding guppies and Mollies know a couple of people with them breeding like mad...

So expect daft questions to follow :)

:hi: read about fishless cycling and get started on it now!!! http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/113861-fishless-cycling/

Thanks for that, the soak testing is for me to make sure that 10 years of stuff being stood it all still works well enough! T hen clean the tank with salty water rinse and find it a home then start the cycle!

This my tank under going its soak testing to make sure it all works

hey Mark, another member from Lincoln :good:

Have you checked out 'the aquarium', up near Dunhelm? He has some good stock up there. He also stocks some stuff that MA doesn't.

BTW if you need some mature media, give me a shout.

Welcome aboard matey! Good luck with the new tank (I'd ditch the undergravel filter though ;) )

Yea been reading up on them and I agree

going to do a Mod to the filter, basically remove the gravel section, the tube drill small holes into it put a Filter foam into it and hey presto an in tank filter :)

Looks like you've been given a great Tank there. Freebies are lovely. All my Tanks are (4 so Far) You'll get a lot of good advice on here aand I have found of the people I've met great folks who are more often than not exchange great fish or plants but knowledge that I have put into practice. Happy me and Happy Fish. :hi:

Hum... trying to find space for it causing some issues but should be possible to cram it in...

off monday so I can empty it, clean it, filter mod and then find some space cram it in fill it up again and then get it all running again.

I might change the heater to a new one, the current one is 2 parts and 2 lots of wires so to tidy it up might ditch the stuff I have and get a new one.
