Total Hardness

My total hardness was very high earlier when I checked it. It had been just high.

All of my other levels are fine.

Overall the general hardness is more important for doing laundry then keeping fish and you don't need to worry about it. If you are really worried about it then you should consider the use o reverse osmosis filtration, as there are not very many ways to stably bring down the GH of very hard water, and the harder it is, the less effect most methods will have.

espically with new world cichlids it don't really matter that much in the overall scheme of things, most new world cichlids will readly adapt to ph, hardness really any and all water conditions, the only thing that really needs to be worried about with them is the nitrogen cycle, and even then there are some that will tolerate some mismanagement.
