The other day at the pet store I checked all the tanks and found in one... imbellis! I wanted them soooooo badly. I can't even explain how gorgeous a few of them were. I'm wondering if they were crossed with splendens though (probably were).... as their coloring was very irridecent. They had the shiniest silver chrome scales on their sides, wow. :hyper: Several had the obvious green gill covers too.

Anyways, most of them were pretty crazy attacking each other, and obviously had been for awhile as their tails and other fins were shredded. :X If they had been in better shape I know I would have grabbed a pair. Anyways, I'm torn, they're torn.. we're all not happy! :sly: I don't want to set up another tank for them if they're going to die though. I just want to heal those fins back into the pretty things they should be. *sigh* Maybe I'll catch some when they get in a new shipment sometime... I dunno.

They had the prettiest gals too... but they were sick.. layin on the bottom and shredded too. I want to bring home all these rescues, but I can't.

awwwww, I hear ya. I'm in the same boat, I cannot, absolutely cannot adopt anymore neglectarinos! Yesterday at the ever so famous Wally world I found the most beautiful white female and I just coudn't do it, I couldn't. I'm expecting 4 more fish in the mail (as you know, julie) and I really don't even have the room for those, let alone 'free riders'

Ugh, listen to this! While I was observing the selection at said store, I found...not one, not two but THREE males in one of those big cups together :X :X All were alive but they were ripped to shreds, management really didn't see the problem....it's hard to stress the point that they're fighting fish when all 3 are frozen paralized with fear :X

If the torn fins weren't that bad, you should have picked up a couple. Torn fins just add character - a rugged look, a rebel.

You should have grabbed at least a couple of the smallest imbellis.

hee hee, I just got the pun in the topic title

Yeah, yeah...took me long enough

 Lol wuv - I'm glad somebody got it. I wasn't sure if anyone would, my puns are a little obscure sometimes. :p Also, I can't BELIEVE there were 3 males in one cup! You should have heard my gasp when I read that. Ugh, just awful. :X

Man.... I dunno what to do. I think I'll have another looksie at them in the next few days if I have a chance. I also think I need to move out of my parent's house so all my tanks don't have to stay in the bedroom!

*The oranges are coming... the oranges are coming* ;)

 All that did was remind me I really shouldn't buy anything new. *Sigh*

it'll be sooner than you realize, they're growing quickly

I hear you about wanting to rescue 'em! Every time I go into a pet store to pick up some filter pads or bulbs or something I feel like grabbing the workers by the collar--dragging them over to the book section, making them read at least one book cover to cover--then pulling them by the nose hairs to their tanks and saying --"Now--what's wrong with this picture?!" "And put some ick meds in these tanks you cruel freaks of nature!"

I feel your pain, Julie. Hopefully they'll get a healthy shipment in soon!
