I want to top up sand in a tank that has four platies already in it, I know it can kick up a bit but settles soon after, if I'm careful, it should be ok for the fish shouldn't it? I was gonna do about a 60% water change then do it then. What do you reckon?

i did it the wrong way my first time... i just dumped it in cup by cup with every fish in the tank...... it was very hazy... i couldn't see any of my fish...... i didn't rinse the sand enough and it relay showed. after that i used my no-spill to fill the tank while i drained it at the same time till it cleared up....i also added water conditioner at the same time so the chlorine didn't harm my fish...... all i can say is rinse GOOD and then go for it!

Cheers, I actually have some sand in already that I put in before I had fish but I only put a bit in the corner with the rest as gravel for decoration (See Picture), but now I might be getting a blue lobster and wanted a bit more for him to play in.
