Top Dwelling Guppies?

Do guppies stay at the top area of the tank? Many people say they stay at the top, but some say they go all around the tank...

Which is true? and how do you encourage them to go all over the tank?>

Mine go all over the tank. I didn't do anything in particular to encourage them, they just did it on their own. I only have guppies in my tank, so I'm not sure if their behavior would be different in a community tank.

I have plants, some colored glass stones on the bottom, a filter, and an air stone. I can't say for sure if any of these had anything to do with their all-over-the-tank behavior though.

Is your tank a community tank?

I've had new guppies that stayed at the top of the tank but once they'd settled in they swam all over with the others.

They mostly go down to the bottom looking for food, especially just after they've been fed.

Well, the guppies will be mied with tetras, so im worried that the tetras will make the guppies go to the top.
