Tested the amonia, it was just over 1ppm, so added another 5ml, its cool now at around 5-6ppm, so gonna wait and see what happens

Very nice setup. Just a suggestions that you may have already taken care of. During cycling, you want the temperature in the upper 80s to low 90s so you will need to adjust the setting on your Aqua-Minder.

Looks good so far... but to avoid tears:
Is that shelf "man enough" for the weight ?
Do you have another thermometer... reason I ask is that I have binned a couple of aquaminders due to vast innacuracies ! Gone back to 2 quid stick ons LOL

It will take forever to cycle without a heater, and you dont need a light on ;-)

Good luck with it, patience is the keyword.... but its soooo hard to wait !

How large is the tank? I hadn't thought about the weight and the cabinet although it looks sturdy enough. A tank is a lot of weight though.

Edit: Rooster, I just noticed your signature about devil's advocate. I am also an expert at that although I don't seem to do it much on here.

Yeh shelf is fine, was built with part of house, good old council structurings...

I got the aquaminder for about 8 quid off ebay, and will at least give me an audible warning if water drops below or goes above a certain range.

I know I dont need the light on, but I wanted to play (1st aquarium an all), its only a normal light anyway which I will need to change when I get plants

:D
