the power went out here and blew the filter on my 20 gallon, i've got a fluval 404 sitting here waiting to go on my new tank, but i'm wondering if i can hook it up to the 20 gallon in the meantime or if it's going to be too much power for such a small tank to handle

almost lost a few of my tiger barbs because of the power outtage, waited a little too long to agitate the water for them and found a couple gasping for air at the top of the tank, they're fine now though, at least, they seem to be

The Fluval filter may be too powerful, although the worst it could to is annoy your fish witht he strong currents.. Get a 2l pop bottle, and cut the conical part off the top. Then, secure both the intake and output hoses inside the bottle, and put it upright on the bottom of the tank. It's worth a try IMO.

heh, thanks for the advice
but theres no need, handy in the future though
it didn't really burn out, i took it off the tank and poked around in it and apparently it was just clogged, cause some crud fell out into the sink, and now its working fine

Hehe, that reminds me of a time when I spent half an hour cleaning the impeller housing on my filter to stop a wierd noise it was making, but then I realized it was the cover on the filter, which wasn't totally attatched, rattling.
