When doing water changes, It says on Aquasafe, which i use to condition the water before putting the new water into tank, put 5ml for every 10 litres. Just wondered if you can put too much aquasafe(conditioner) in to the new water and cause any problems?

I'm not familiar with that one but as a general rule, you can't over dose dechlorinators. I guess you could maybe add a gallon jug to a 5 gallon tank and cause problems but I doubt anyone would ever do that. I use Stress Coat and there is an old thread somewhere on the forum where some one emailed API about it and they answered back that it was impossible to overdose with Stress Coat.

I use Aqua safe, You can overdose, but the only thing it does is dye the water and waste your aqua safe. What size tank do you have?

Dont overdose, it just wastes the dechlorinator and there is no point, it doesnt do anything more than when you put in 5ml per 10 litres. By the way if you run out of that i suggest using king british dechlor. I got 250 ml of it, it is £2.50 cheaper the aquasafe and it says to use 10ml for 20 gallons, so it treats a lot more than aquasafe!

The only thing I have ever heard about using more than the prescribed dosage is that some people say you should use double the normal dosage in the spring because some of the municipal water companies use more chlorine in those months because of the warmiing weather. I never measure mine anyway. It's not like it's terribly expensive and it's a lot easier to just squirt some in than trying to keep up with measuring spoons.

the only real problem is wasting it and the fact Aqua safe is blue, and when you overdose the entire tank goes blue, and then you have todo a 20% water change every day for about a week to remove it.

Happened to me twice, i dont listen to the guide any more, i just go on what i thinks best you can always easily add more if its not enough, where as if you add to much it can take forever to remove the excess.
