i currently have a rio 180 and the standard lights that come with the tank arnt that great at all. so i decided to buy 2 juwel reflectors, now when i put these on u can really tell the difference and now my tank looks alot brighter, it looks great but i have a bit of a problem with the fish. every time i turn the lights on the dash for cover under the driftwood of plant leaves. Now are the lights to bright for my fish or is it a case of they just need to get used to the new lighting. My red tailed shark and the 3 clown loach arnt that bothered about the light, its just the tiger barb that run for cover.

Make sure that you dont put the lights on when it is dark (switch the room lights on first for a few minutes). Fish are the same as us, when you get up after it is pitch black and you put the light on, it hurts your eyes. Fish dont have eyelids so this is their only way of getting protection.

thats what i do i open my blinds let some light in before i turn my tank lights on just so they get adjusted with the light.

ooo just noticed ur from Nottinghamshire not far me i live in Mansfield.
