I got 2 new AqauClear 70 power filters(formerly 300) and I have 2 sponge filters w/powerheads from my previous years. For a 55G brackish tank with puffers, would this be too much filtration? I know puffers like lots of movement of water.

FYI, AqaClear 70 pumps up to 300gph and is recommended for tanks 50-70G. Sponge filters will be placed on opposite corners.

I think you can only over filter planted tanks and tanks with fish that like slow water movement i.e Angels and discus.

i think the sponge filters will be pretty much useless in a tank this size and will take up room...

but the 2 aquaclear filters sounds like a lot of fun if you want movement :D

you could also just put in the powerheads for added circulation if you think it is necessary, though the 2 aquaclear should provide enough movement...

No I run two filters in all my tanks, just make sure that they are not to powerful that they are blowing the fish everywhere.
