I need some help!
I have lost too many fish in the past 3 weeks. 2 dwarf gouramis. neither looked ill, both happy and healthy, then 1 day later.... gone. second Gourami died 12 days after the first. I still have 2, The 2 gouramis that had fin rot, probably from cramming through a decoration hole that is too small.
(I broke the deco. to remove Gimlli the red gourami on Sunday and he is doing fine.) But the 2 that had NO damaged fins of other signs of stress died, suddenly.
Also lost 2 honey Gouramis, only had them for 4 + 5 days. Again, no signs of illness. they were playing in the plants and eating in the AM, come home on Mon. and Tues. to find 1 died each day.
We have lost 6, or 7 Neon tetras, over the last 3 weeks. But who knows who could have bitten them. 2 were stuck to the filter intake.
1 Male dalmation Mollie, Healthy and playful, then Gone. 3 weeks ago, 10 days after he was put in the tank.
2 guppys, I think they were sexually harrassed, cause we had an even number of males, to females.
not sure, but I saw them nipping at her butt.
Then this morning I see a blue Mickey Platie has died, also harrassed by the Pansy Guppys (fancy).
So, I could see her death as stress related.

Water stats. Am. is 0 / nitite 0 / nitrAte 10ppm / PH 7.5 / Slightly hard water. / Temp is 75-76 fahr.

30% weekly gravel vac water change.

flake food, frozen Hikari bloodworms, Shrimp pellets,
and now Anti bacterial, anti parasite food, for 2 days so far.

Treated with melafix, and Pima fix for 4 days, Sat.Sun.MonTues. should I continue Medicine food, and melafix.

poop seems normal. light brown.

Carbon and zeolite, changed every month.
Live plants are growing well. (Swamp?) Grass.. Java Moss and Mini pine tree looking stuff, that the Mollies and Gouramis love to nibble. Water lilys, growing like a weed, 3 new lilly pads in 10 days.

I hope you can point me in some direction, as I'm dizzy with anxiety.

Thank You All! :*

Is your tank relatively new or been around a while?? When you are treating with meds are you removing the carbon from your filter??

Hello.
My tank has been set up for only 5 months, and it has had fish in it for 4 months.

probably fully cycled, then, but did you know that activated carbon removes meds from water? this may be why treatment has not helped.

Id say that is probably the issue, you are treating a tank with meds, which the carbon is then filtering out so its not getting a chance to actually do its job.

Thank You All.
I did turn the filter off from Sunday, till tonight, when I will put the cartridge cloth filter in and run it.

I also picked up some API general cure anti parisite, should I Start treatment?

With NO carbon.

Airpump has been running.

Thanks Again!

Hello.

ISpent 2 hours watching my tank for clues, with a 10x eye loupe (magnifier), and the most I can see is a few fuzzy spots. small patches of gold-ish stuff  on the sides of 3 tetras, and a mollie has a white-ish patch on her fin.

I treated with the powder packs of API General cure, Since I believe it to be velvet.

Also will be buying a new heater, mine is a few years old and seems to be inconsistant at holding a steady temp.
I decided to remove the cloth filter cartidge, and put in the empty can.

I see these pills of the same name, I think I'll try to find these locally, to do the next treatment in 48 hrs.

Thanks
Adam

Good News!

I think they had Velvet, and it seems to be cured! No more spots, or fuzz. no more clamped fins. everyone seems happy!

And now this morning we find 15-20 tiny fry. Another molly gave birth!!! They are clear, and look like they have no fins, cause they are so small, and cute!
