Too Many Brittle Stars?

At the weekend I found a small piece of LR that looked like it could be aiptasia on there. So I took this piece out just in case, but because I was worried what was inside the rock I placed it in a small container with half out the water, its been there for 3 days.
Tonight I decided to have a look and counted 8 brittle stars, just from a tiny piece of rock no more than 3 inches long! I have noticed on my main LR a few legs poking out etc, do you think I could have way too many on my LR considering there was 8 on one tiny piece?

Oh they are actually all still alive as well, go figure They are in half salt half tap water purely as I didnt want the piece of rock. Should I just put them back into my tank or might I have too many?

Is the rock completely submerged in water? If it ain't I wouldn't put it back in as it will have die off.

I think I probably have hundreds of the things - it is funny because they seem to choose one piece of rock and they then all hang out together, waving their arms in the water! So, no - you havent got too many
