Too Heavy?

thanks.

we also have the same fish by the looks of it.

from what i see in your pics you have 6-7 piece's. i used about 6 piece but it looked bigger than the bits you have, so im sure you will be fine.

do you have any egg crate underneath? im sure eggcrate dont do anything but it made me feel better while doing it.

the peices i had would not fit in the tank before i broke them up (i had 9 to start with but on used 6-7)

as you said i broke them all down.

eggcrate is something alot of people use to put under there rocks. you then put gravel/sand over it and you carnt see it. it helps to distribute the wieght of the rock over the bottam of the tank.

when using rocks you should always place the rocks directly on the glass (if your using eggcrate you place the rock ontop of the eggcrate). mbuna dig, if the dig under the rocks the rock could fall and damage the fish/tank.

IMHO, as long as you are using relatively flat rocks, eggcrate really isn't necessary; I've had 130lbs of rock in my 75gal for around two years now with no problems. There are quite a few other people on here with similar set-ups. However, if it makes you feel better, go for it. :good:

Ideally the eggcrate should go in before the substrate. Whatever you decide, be sure the bottom layers of the rock rests directly on the glass (or eggcrate if you use it) since mbuna (rock-dwellers from Lake Malawi) spend a lot of their time digging. You may not see this behavior as much with gravel, but they will still dig and can collapse rock piles if the rocks are set on top. Also, you don't need to glue your stacks together, just be sure to check that they aren't wobbly and likely to collapse.

If you haven't already looked at them, here's a great link for ideas on decorating an mbuna tank.
