I woke up today and my sailfin dropped new fry, yesterday my red swordtail dropped about 20,my black swordtail has 15 in the breeder net,I still have swordtails left over from the last drop, and my guppies dropped more. My endlers are shooting them out like machine guns.

I'm about to go nuts. :S

Heather, Heather....

Why do you think I got my new Harlequin Rasboras?

do none of your lfs buy them when they get a certain size mine now pay me a third of what they sell them for

I sell them online when they get big enough...The worst part is waiting for them to get big enough to sell and accumulating more while I wait...It's almost overbearing. :D

just put a couple cichlids in the tank, they'll taker care of it

I would but I know absolutely squat about cichlids. I need to start at the newbie section if I'm going to get into cichlids.

I'm not familiar with those...Do they get huge? If they stay a minimal size I might consider for birth control..Do you have a link with some good info?

Unfortunately, none of my lfs will take anything from me. I'm on my own. :X

Rasboras stay small... how are they supposed to eat the fry (mine certainly don't eat the bigger ones)? Or did you just replace the livebearers with them? i can't tell because I can't see your sig right now.

Yes, they stay small. They can get up to about 1.5 - 2.0 inches, but I've never seen one any bigger then about 1.25 inches. Of course, I mostly see the ones at the lfs, and they're likely youngish. Bigger than neons, smaller than skirt tetra - thay are funny to watch, and fast as all get-out! I figure my tank has lots of hiding spots, I can still have a few fry to raise and sell (or keep). Only the swiftest and the smartest will make it!

I haven'tfound a great link yet, but here's one with the basics....

I will be moving the rasboras to the big tank in the next coupla days - I'll let you know how effective they are!

Supposedly they are very good at scarfin' down fry. I will give you an updaye when they are out of quarrentine and in the big tank!

My betta loves to hunt down guppy fry. I don't have enough tanks to grow them all out, so I usually let a few grow out in their own tank, and the rest get to try and escape from the Betta.

So far, he's gotten every one I've put in.

I cant believ how much fry you have, I have just had my first batch of sword fry, theres to may there for me to look after but i feel bad feeding them to the other fish, Im sure my knife and the angels would love to get hold of a few but cant bring my self to do it.

what are you going to do with yours? how big are they now?

Well, where do I start on sizes...Hmmm...I'll start with the freshest ones. lol

I have some week old red sword fry, some brand new endlers, some 4 week old black swordtails,I have brand new to 4 month old endlers completely head to toe in my ten gallon..I just sold some so I'm ganna cut that down abit..I have 4 month old platys,3 month old platys,2 month old sailfin mollies,3 week old fancy guppy fry, lots of adult fancy guppies left over (they have crowntails so I kept them but they HAVE to go lol),Oh I have some 3 month old red swordtail fry left over...I have so many fish,I have one of my nice 20 gallons dedicated to just babies and corys and my 5 gallon is chalked full and the frog had to move out. Winter time sucks and I couldn't sell any because it was too cold to ship. Now spring is nearly here, the weather is more favorable and they are UP TO GO! I can't wait to clear out my 20 gallon...I wanna get some cardinal tetras for my corys. :)

(and Truman would like his tank back! )
